STEVE TILSTON
Musician Pub 10th October 2024
Another wonderful night at The Musician Pub with the welcome return of Steve Tilston
Steve is an acoustic folk singer - singer/songwriter... but that hardly tells the story. He has a tremendous CV and fabulous catalogue of music dating back to the 70's when I first saw him.
Last night he concentrated mainly on later material and a host of tracks from a forthcoming album (due hopefully in March) and judging by the performance tonight it will be a superb album... and he suggested his last.
He did play one traditional folk song, a lovely performance of "Banks of the Sweet Primroses" and ended with his classic "Slipjigs and Reels"
Steve has a wonderful warm voice, sings beautifully and there are very few who can match him as a guitar player. His playing is at all times fluent and clean. i love to hear such a fine musician playing pure music, acoustic and without a battery of pedals and devices to augment the playing.. he just doesn't need it... his playing is superb.
His songs are also of the highest quality, well crafted and full of interest and even on first hearing seem to feel like old friends.
The whole performance was a true delight... great songs, great singing and guitar playing... topped off with Steve's warm engaging personality and easy entertaining between song chat made this a truly wonderful performance... and that's what you always get with Steve... a truly great artist.
