Last night was a fabulous night at The Donkey Venue with the first of 2 nights of "Can Your Pussy do the Cramps", celebrating the music of the Cramps and supporting the Cat Protection League
I confess that I only got to know the Cramps music last year and regret i really missed out!... the bands all made it clear that the Cramps were the greatest band around, and judging by the outstanding sets tonight they are probably right! As I am not an expert on the band I cannot offer a set list or comparison to the originals...
On the night four superb bands delivered scintillating exciting sets of Cramps musc which clearly thrilled the audience...
First up was THE KINGS OF HONG KONG... a new name to me at the previous show and they were again outstanding... a superb passionately delivered set, terrific pace and energy throughout...
Following them was DRUGSTORE COWBOYS, and you know any band fronted by Nick Whitfield will be high energy, passionate and exciting.... and so it was again tonight. The band carried on where the KOHK left off... delivering a scorching set .

Moving on, next up was fabulous EMPRESS OF FUR... who started with bang and continued to deliver another superb high energy set, with the Empress bouncing around the stage throughout.
Closing the evening came MYSTERY ACTION, with a debut for their new singer... and the band ended the evening in really great style... another superb set of high energy exciting Cramps music... Always a pleasure to hear, they put their own mark on the Cramps music and delivered a superb set.
Overall... this was a totally inspiring and exciting evening of music delivered by four exceptional bands...
It all happens again tonight, Saturday, so cancel your plans and get down to the Donkey to see the second night of magic... you wont be disappointed... judging by last night you are in for a really fabulous evening with four cracking bands.
Huge thanks to Nick Whitfield for bringing this all together again... it was another evening to be proud of.
Keep music live... keep music real... support your local venue
