Five Guys NOT Bruce

FIVE GUYS NOT BRUCE:
Darren Driver, Jeff Brennan, Tom Brooksby, Kev Jamiesen. Rico Richardson Musician Pub: 5th October 2024

You are not often privileged to be at a gig like this... The Musician Pub hosted FIVE GUYS NOT BRUCE... five superb performers, all Springsteen tributes, coming together to celebrate the songs of the Boss... and it was a glorious uplifting magnificent performance.

The show started with Tom Brooksby doing three of his own songs to warm the audience up... the large audience were already fully on board... and Tom delighted with his short set, especially with a beautiful song projecting "The River" 10 years forward...
After this lovely short set we were introduced to the other musicians... Darren Driver, JERRY BRENNAN, Kev Jamieson & RICO RICHARDSON.
The five musicians sat on stools lined across the stage and took it in turns to sing... and by the end they had gone 5 times across the line... 25 songs
You cant pick out any musician above the others... all five were firing on all cylinders and at the top of their game... clearly loving playing the show.
As one man started a song, the others joined in either adding guitar, vocals, harmony as they felt right... each of the 25 performances were superb... and they all appeared to wonder "how do i follow that" after their predecessor... but follow it they did superbly.
The audience were fully with the band from the first notes, and the band responding hugely to each other and the audience. As intros came, most of the audience were singing along and loving every moment... i have rarely been in a gig with such a fabulous atmosphere from the opening moment til the end... and the joy on the faces of the musicians, and the huge mutual respect was a delight to see.
After the 25 individual songs the five stood to deliver a couple of songs, "Dancing in the Dark" and "Born to Run" as a group... Tom had suggested it could get "a little f---ing loose"... he was dead right.. it did but it was glorious as everyone took a verse
How do you summarize?... 5 musicians sharing the stage, huge bond of affection and mutual appreciation between them... and with the audience... 27 superb performances... glorious uplifting atmosphere throughout.. superb music... hugely exciting and enjoyable... it was a joy and privilege to be there...
The reaction of the musicians to each other at the end told the story... hugs and embraces all round... with huge smiles... i think the audience felt just the same!
Finally, huge thank to Tom, Darren, Jerry, Kev & Rico... and to Chris who promoted the show, for one of the best nights of music i can remember... absolutely joyful and magnificent
Keep music live... keep music real... support your local venues
