Friday night at The Musician Pub saw the return of the fabulous Small Fakers ... a Small Faces tribute band, and this band is absolutely on the money... they always deliver a terrific show and last night was no exception... the band came on and cracked straight in to "Watcha Gonna Do About it" followed by "Sha La La La Lee" which had the (almost) full house belting out the "Sha La's" with the band... the first half continues with Small Faces hits, b-sides and album tracks, each intro being cheered as it was recognized... a terrific set of early days Small Faces material all loudly cheered by the audience... the half ended with the usual quip... "we'll be back in 1967"

The second half was the music that first addicted me to SF music before looking back and growing to love the earlier material... So, into 1967 with "Here Come the Nice" and into "Rene the Dockers Delight" and other tracks from "Ogdens Nut Gone Flake":

The familiar intro to "Itchycoo Park" drew even bigger cheers as the audience belted it out with the band... More of "Ogdens" ending with the superb "Little Tin Soldier"... and ending the set with, perhaps inevitably, "Lazy Sunday"... the audience were invited to sing... and the audience delivered in great style!...

Straight into the encores.. "Afterglow" and "All or Nothing"

This band are incredibly authentic to the Small Faces and clearly love the music and playing.. .the band are all musically top class and delivered a fabulous high energy performance which had the large audience cheering and singing to the end... absolutely wonderful performance... high energy, exciting and absolutely great fun... a truly great night

The good news is that the band will be back at the new venue next October!!... one for the diary right now!!
