Sometimes you go to a gig not knowing what to expect and come out blown away by the quality of the performance and a confirmed fan of the artist. Such a gig was tonights show at The Musician Pub with Evangeline Gentle.
Evangeline took the stage with no fuss and started her first song acapella... and what a beautiful voice!. She continued accompanied simply by her own guitar and delivered a host of her own first class songs.
This show was a real joy... a clear stage... one microphone stand and one artist with her guitar... no fuss, no clever effects, no electronics... just beautiful pure music throughout.
No dispute, Evangeline has a beautiful voice, plays fine guitar and writes excellent songs, and she delivers all with an easy warmth which easily engages the audience.
Her set was all original songs, all excellent and with a nice balance of light and shade. The one exception was her final song, before the encore, which was a gorgeous acapella performance of the traditional song "Black is the Colour of My True Loves' Hair"
Absolutely wonderful evening... Evangeline is an outstanding artist... I loved every moment of it...
if i have a complaint... i could have listened to Evangeline for hours more!!!
