WILLOW HILL
Musician Pub 9th September 2024
Another show at The Musician Pub and this was a real gem... an outstanding performance by Willow Hill, visiting from Nashville and playing their first show in Leicester... and it was one to be proud of.
The band's music is rooted in country, but i believe they started in rock, and those traces show giving a really punchy contemporary feel and sound to the country music. They play mainly their own material, which deserves closer attention as their songs are really high quality. They do scatter a few covers into the show, including "Jolene" and starting the second set with a medley of. "Proud Mary" and "Stuck in the Middle".. there was also, i believe, a Fleetwood Mac song (not my favourite band!) but it worked perfectly in this setting.
CT plays great guitar.. a great style and rhythm which somehow gives the feel of having a rhythm section behind him...He also sings a couple of songs and adds harmony to many of the others.. he is no slouch as a singer, but his guitar playing is superb
Alexandra plays keyboards, ukelele and tambourine and has a truly awesome magnificent voice... her singing is simply outstanding. Her delivery is strong, assured, pure and with her diction a joy to listen to... this was a truly joyful performance by s superb band... i really for to have a chance to see them again
They were clearly loving performing and smiling constantly, and love between these two is clear to see and their grace and charm instantly engages the audience.
This was a superb performance, one of the very best...
