SOUTHERN FRONTIER CONTRY BAND

Going to a Sunday afternoon gig with Southern Frontier Country Band was the ideal way to end a busy weekend. It was great to see them back in a real music venue!!
Southern Frontier are a country covers band, and, in my view, get stronger and more assured with every performance,
They choose the pieces they play well and introduced four new covers onto their set this afternoon.
I am used to hearing the set start with "Pancho and Lefty" but today they started with an upbeat "Folsom Prison Blues", bringing "Pancho" in a bit later.. good move... I think that is a more impactful piece to start a gig with.
Musically the band are excellent... and a special word for Phil, who delivered some lovely lead guitar work on his solos. It is always good to see a band playing so well and enjoying playing.
Another excellent and hugely enjoyable performance by a really good band...
One word of negativity though... for me, the overall feel, especially with some of the more recent additions to the set is veering away from the core of Country Music towards a more Rock'n'Roll vibe... having said that this was still a great and hugely enjoyable performance and very well received by a good sized crowd
keep music live... keep music real... support your local venue
