So Stuart Pearce/Glitch Magnet/Glimmerpit

STUART PEARCE/GLITCH MAGNET/GLIMMERPIT
Musician Pub 9th November

The Musician Pub continued tonight with it's strategy of providing great music across a range of genres.

The show tonight started with a wonderful performance by Manchester band GLIMMERPIT. The band is a three piece with keyboard, bass and drums....the bands blurb suggests that they provide noise, krasutrock, psych and silliness... and they did indeed... but that is only a part of the story they are an exciting joyous, slightly chaotic band delivering their songs about such diverse subjects as being exploited at work, bad boyfriends, menstruation, gay rights , tits... and finally "welcome to the glimmerpit"... which is a place to go and feel better by sharing your frustrations with friends and starting to feel good... Full of energy and joy, this was an explosive and wonderful start to the evening... loved this band!

Next up, local "unglam" band Glitch Magnet. Having seen the band before I knew what to expect and they delivered exactly what i expected... an invigorating almost mesmerising slice of their own unique brand of music... The bass and drums work together to establish the rhythms while the the two guitars work so well together to create a hypnotic pattern of sound which is topped of by Alison's chanted/spoken vocals topping it off.
The music is both energetic and very hypnotic... with the vocals and hypnotic nature there are, to me, hints of some Velvet Underground, but this is original, exclusively Glitch Magnet music... and damned good it is...

Finally up were STUART PEARCE. They signalled their intent from the first moment with a frenzied attack on the keyboard and a powerhouse start from the bass, drums and guitar... The band are a pure powerhouse punk band delivering their short crisp songs with amazing energy, aplomb and ferocity... Hugely exciting set delivered by a band playing their first Leicester show... and based on what they delivered tonight, i hope it wont be the last.
This was a hugely enjoyable evening... three great, and contrasting bands playing up a storm and thrilling the audience...
3 great sets... one great evening
Keep music live... keep music real.... support you local venue
