Milkmen

THE MILKMEN
Musician Pun 8th June 2024

A wonderful night at the The Musician Pub with the return of the fabulous The Milk Men - Band. Surely the best R&B Rock'n'Roll band around... however often you see this band you will always be blown away by them. They take their music seriously, but come alive on stage and are about having a great time... and giving the audience a great time... the shows are great fun and totally exhilarating from the first moment as the band crack into their 2 hour plus show.

From the first moment the rapport with the audience is clear as they breeze through material from their albums, everyone a gem. The band kick off in top gear and throughout the show they build up the power and intensity until they seem to peak with a blistering version of Fleetwood Mac's "Oh Well" which sees the band in close formation at the front of the stage with Mike hopping off the stage into the audience to shake his tambourine... from there things crank up further with "Pinball Wizard" and climaxing with "She Don't Like Rock and Roll".
A short gap before the band kick into the rock'n'roll encore sequence... absolutely brilliant stuff... "Summertime Blues" followed by the King of Rock'n'Roll's "Johnny B Goode" which includes verses of "Sweet Caroline" and "Rockin' all over the World" before returning to Johnny B Goode.
In football parlance, the band always give 100% and hold nothing back, leaving everything up there on the stage.. huge energy and massive commitment throughout.
They also demonstrate that rock'n'roll music doesnt have to be played at ear-splitting volume to be exciting and uplifting... a testimony to the superb musicianship of all four players.
Mike, always sartorially elegant, is a superb drummer and drives the beat along with Lloyd, who generally stands towards the back, and simply plays superb bass. Adam is a supreme guitar player delivering some superb solos but always a totally integral part of the band and up front Jamie is the ideal front man/vocalist... a great r'n'r voice and performer.
The band deliver everything you would want from a rock gig... superb musicianship, huge energy, great style delivering a simply magnificent show both musically and visually. I really love this band... as did everyone there to see a fabulous show.
Another triumphant show by a superb band... sending the audience back into the night buzzing and smiling... and looking forward the the christmas show coming up later in the year.
Superb gig!!!
Keep music live.. keep music real... support your local venue
