Dark Side of the Wall

 DARK SIDE OF THE WALL
Musician Pub 15th June 2024

Saturday night saw the welcome return to the The Musician Pub for the wonderful Dark Side of the Wall, a superb Pink Floyd tribute band.

Maybe all you need to know about this gig is the fact that this great band was on top form and delivered a superb set list!!! They kicked off in slightly doomy mode with "Sorrow" from the Pulse album.... the sound as always full and powerful and totally authentic Floyd... This was followed by one of the many showstoppers in the set "Shine on you Crazy Diamond"
After this and a couple more familiar pieces then a return to the Gilmour era, for a couple of songs, the second of which was "Coming Back to Life" which had a personal significance for the band, and i suspect some of the audience, and was delivered perfectly.
The first set ended with "Echoes", which Mick introduced by saying "If you are a Floydie you will know what it is from the first note"... yep, quite right. This featured some outstanding sax work from Pete.
The second half started with an outstanding "Pigs" before concentrating on the two albums that give the band their name..
"Breathe" got the audience singing along before "Great Gig in the Sky" which was was a mesmerizing tour-de-force vocal performance by Hayley
The set continued to build towards a magnificent "Another brick in the Wall" which had the audience in full voice
This was followed by the quieter reflective beautiful "Wish You Were Here", which i'm sure chimed with many more than just myself in the room judging by the way everyone sang the song.
From there into the resounding wonderful version of "Comfortably Numb" followed as no surprise to anyone by the encore, "Run Like Hell"
And there it was.. .a couple of hours of Pink Floyd music delivered superbly by a band who are high on musicianship and
performance and who always give it their all to deliver outstanding memorable shows...
This is very much a band, so it's difficult to single out individuals... but throughout Steve's bass pumped and powered along while Adrian coaxed some simply beautiful tones from his guitar in the Gilmour role... At the back of the stage Tony's drumming was impeccable while Pete and Jon provided superb keyboard work and, in Jon's case, guitar as well. Mick delivers the bulk of the vocals, and has a great voice and presence. The other two members are not on stage for the whole time, but Pete's sax playing remains an absolute joy and Hayley's vocal contribution simply outstanding.
So... a couple of hours of authentic Pink Floyd music.. played with passion integrity and joy... and boy do these guys rock!!
Superb band delivering a superb set... absolutely loved every second
Keep music live... keep music real... support you local venues
