LEVY CIRCUS/KIERA
Musician Pub: 26th June 2024
First up was KEIRA... A singer songwriter delivering a few of her own songs and a couple of, i thought, unlikely covers from Peggy Seeger and the Foo Fighters. I believe that she hadn't been playing a lot lately and there were signs of rustiness. Her singing was reasonable, but the guitar playing was elementary. However, it is difficult to be fully objective about the performance due to the ignorant rabble who didnt have the maturity or courtesy to stop talking and laughing out loud throughout the set.
At a music gig whether the performer is brilliant or poor, they deserve to be shown the respect of the audience shutting up and listening to them.
After a brief break THE LEVY CIRCUS came on and stressed that they are medics by addressing and commenting on other medics in the room.
Their set started with some nice guitar work before the band came in... The standard of musicianship in the band is quite high, they appear to be fine players. Sadly however in the quiet moments it was clear that the chatter was continuing
They perform mainly their own songs, with a couple of covers, which sadly i didnt recognise, but their own songs were fairly basic and uninspiring... the music was overall quite pleasant, i didn't dislike it, but it didnt in any way inspire...sadly i found them uninteresting and monotonous... it has to be said though, the audience seemed to thoroughly enjoy it
Not a gig I would care to repeat
