New Age Grace/Sietch/Firecraken

NEW AGE GRACE/SIETCH/FIRECRAKEN
Firebug 5th April 2024

A friday night jaunt to Firebug for some tasty rock'n'roll along with the excellent New Age Grace... and a terrific evening it was
First up was FIRECRAKEN a no-nonsense metal rock band who delivered a terrific 30 minutes of high energy rock music. Drums and Bass powered along, working their socks off to deliver a real powerhouse of a rhythm section propelling the band and topped off by some really tasty fiery guitar work. The vocals were harsh, more shouting than singing but that is exactly whet the band needed. Not a lot of subtlety in the music, but lots of good hard rocking... cracking start to the evening.

Next up was a three piece called SIETCH... another hugely interesting and powerful unit. Hard to really define... at times the music reminiscent of early post-Barrett Pink Floyd, at others high power rock'n'roll. There were quiet peaceful passages with some great melodic guitar playing and some really fiery rock'n'roll. The drums were crisp and driving throughout while the bass player pummelled his instrument with energy and zeal and delivered an almost gymnastic performance at times, bouncing around the stage and some high leaps... the guitarist was comparatively static, and simply played fabulous guitar. Another cracking band delivering a great and hugely enjoyable set.

Finally up were New Age Grace, a really fine band delivering their customarily great set. Think back to bands like Stone the Crows with more rock and less blues for an idea of the style.
The focal point of the band is the powerful high quality vocals of singer Amy Louise. Instrumantally Kenny Cassells plays some scintilating guitar while Tomas Csabi (bass) and Chris Swirles (Drums) create a solid powerful rhythm section.
This band is a fine live band.. playing together as a unit rather than a group of individuals and the overall effect is terrific... a talented band delivering a set of straight forward hot rock'n'roll which really hits the spot.
During the set they invited Siobhan Mazzei on stage to reprise her guest appearance last time I saw the band.
New Age Grace are a cracking band and delivered a real high quality set of rock'n'roll... loved it
Overall.. this was a really great evening of "blow the cobwebs" away rock and roll... so glad i was there!!
Keep music live... keep music real... support your local venues
