Alex is a singer/songwriter very much in the folk mould accompanying herself with acoustic guitar and a kick drum on some pieces. She has a lovely gentle voice and a warm engaging stage presence, generating a warm feeling in the room.. She sings mainly her own songs, but did include a couple of covers, "I'm on Fire" (Springsteen) and. "Old Man" (Neil Young) as well as a folk song which was unfamiliar to me.
Her songs, which deal very much with relationships, are very good and very varied in style, and the set is well balanced moving between delicate quiet songs and some more upbeat pieces. The use of the kick drum is not overdone, and does add to the performance where used .
Overall, Alex is a fine singer and songwriter and delivered a really nice laid back set to a highly appreciative audience.
However, sadly for me it didn't really particularly inspire or excite on the night despite the obvious quality of the performance
