Mystery Action/Crazyhead

CRAZYHEAD - MYSTERY ACTION
Donkey Venue August 26th 2023

So, another night, another gig... this time a trip to The Donkey to see Mystery Action & Crazyhead

The evening started in fine style by Mystery Action with a wonderful set of their unique voodoo rock'n'roll, complete as ever with some fine make up and hats. I have seen the band a couple of times already this year and the set remains relatively unchanged the band provide such a great alround performnce that it hardly matters, it all still soundsw fresh and new. Happilly the set did include a couple of established personal favourites, in "Voodoo Rock'n'Roll: and the wonderful "Grapple"... for those who still treasure memories of Kent Walton on a saturday afternoon... we also got a rousing and wonderful "Landlords Daughter (No more beer tonight)" which i love!
You just cant watch this band without feeling joy... they somehow manage to take their crsft very seriously but in a light hearted way... so the gigs are always terrific fun as well as great music

After a break on came the headliners, Crazyhead. I must admit a couple of numbers into their set i was feeling this was an anti climax and rather disappointing... however... after another 6 or 7 minutes i found i was bouncing up and down and loving it. The band are fine musicians and play with so much energy... the set races along at breakneck speed, unrelenting i guess really, and keeps you moving along with it. Hugely infectious joyful high powered music... however we define the genre, this is really hot rock'n'roll played in the spirit and with the drive in which it is meant to be played

A cracking evening... great sets from two great bands
