Gerry Jablonski Band

 GERRY JABLONSKI BAND
Musician Pub August 12th 2023

Back at the The Musician Pub Saturday night for a fix of Rock'n'Roll... this time from the magnificent Gerry Jablonski Band. I had heard that this band have an enviable reputation as a live band, but i hadn't seen them before... so... would they live up to that reputation?... they exceeded it beyond measure.
The band exploded into actin which an apocalyptically loud explosion of sound which morphed into the first number of the two hour show. This was great rock 'n'roll high in all the elements that you want in an R'n'R gig... the music was powerful, muscular, brilliantly played and LOUD...
Most of the songs i believe were originals, but they did plunder the songbooks of Albert King, Rory Gallagher and Puccini with a remarkable version of Nessan Dorma.
The pace never relented, bassist Grigor Leslie and drummer Lewis Fraser set a formidable power base driving the music relentlessly while harp player Peter Narojczyk added some ferocious and rthymic harp... the feature however is the absolutely magnificent guitar work of Gerry Jablonksi, who also contributes the bulk of the vocals, allowing Lewis to step to stage front to sing one song accompanied by just Gerry's guitar and on a couple of subsequent songs.
The whole show is raw, powerful and musically spot on... The band clearly having a blast throughout and complementing each other perfectly, building a wonderful rapport with the audience in seconds flat...
This was a superb rock'n'roll show...
The only sadness being that relatively few of us were there to thrill to it... people of Leicester... if you like high class exciting rock music, keep your eyes on the venue listings... all being well the band will be back next year and you\'d be a damn fool to miss it
Keep music live... keep music real... support your local venue
