BILLY MITCHELL & BOB FOX
March 30th 2023 Musician Pub 2023

Third terrific gig in 3 days... this was great night in the company of Billy Mitchell & Bob Fox... two long established stars on the folk scene and they bring a wealth of experience, talent and warmth to any gig.

A mix of original and traditional songs all sung beautifully and accompanied perfectly with guitars and mandolin. These guys are a real treat to see and hear... great music with lashings of warmth and humour.
You cannot fail to enjoy these two, no flash pyrotechnics or tricks... just great songs delivered perfectly with warmth and humour... perfect way to spend an evening

Stacey Antonel, Banjo Jen

STACEY ANTONeL - BANJO JEN
Musician Pub March 29th 2023

Another wonderful evening at the Musician Pub...

Starting with a great set, as always, from Banjo Jen... the recipe as before, fine songs, lovely voice, fine frailing and some Appalachian Step Dancing... hugely enjoyable and entertaining performance by a real delight of a performer... tonight ably assisted by El Heneghan on accordion, flute, harmonies and saw

After the break the headliner.... the outstanding magnificent Stacy Antonel. as soon as she sang the first line her voice just blew me away... absolutely magnificent. Stacy also moved gracefully and elegantly from country/americana stylings to jazz vocals with equal conviction. Absolutely wonderful performance...
Add that to some wonderful and quirky original material and banter and well chosen covers made this one of the real standout performances at the venue... Stacy was assisted by a truly fine guitar player whose name embarrassingly i cant recall... but he was excellent!!
A truly outstanding performance from Stacy.... and a wonderful evening in the Musician

Sons of Liberty, Preacher Stone

SONS OF LIBERTY/PREACHER STONE
Musician Pub March 28th 2023

What a gig this was... not one for the faint-hearted!! Just the thing to heat up a cold damp Tuesday evening!!

First up a band i've known and loved since i first saw them... all the way from Bristol, the awesome Sons Of Liberty.. a bunch of southern rockers with more stage presence than any dozen other rock bands.
The Sons delivered a magnificent performance... driven remorselessly by drums and bass with outstanding guitar work from both guitarists... all topped off by a powerful vocals.
Southern rock delivered with energy, passion and huge musical ability... powerful and charismatic... what more could you ask for!!

After as short break up stepped Preacher Stone... they promised that they would convert everyone who didn't know them before to their team... and they did that and much more... another totally awesome slice of Southern rock, this time from North Carolina.. again, musically spot on, driving and charismatic...
Two brilliant bands on top of their game...

Chameleon Dreams Pt 2

 CHAMELEON DREAMS Pt 2
Musician Pub March 22nd 2023

Well... what a night this was... Chameleon Dreams Part 2 (A poetic journey through Leicester’s psychedelic past) the dream child of Kenny Wilson and he delivered a wonderful evening... a long list of performers... Anne Williamson, Julian Wright, Terry Wilford, Kevin Hewick, Kenny Wilson, Al Sansome AllStars, Ann Duggan&Rob Hines, Hugh McManners,Maureen Anderson, Pip Greasley, Dawson Smith... evoking the spirit of the late lamented CHAMELEON CAFE and the scene in Leicester in 1968.
An evening of nostalgia for everyone involved at the time and delight for those of us who, for one reason or another weren't involved.
I can't review all the performers, but a pretty good crowd thoroughly enjoyed a really joyful, entertaining and fun evening.
The variety of artists involved, and the short sharp sets ensured the the evening bounced along beautifully emphasising the depth of feelings, variety and styles of the age....
An incredibly enjoyable evening... a great chance to renew friendships and start new ones... and to simply have fun...
A great night... and huge credit to Kenny Wilson for successfully pulling everything together to provide such a great evening
