James Oliver Band

JAMES OLIVER BAND
International Music Venue 1st October 2025

Last night the The International Music Venue hosted the return to Leicester of the wonderful James Oliver Band. and they totally rocked the place.James isd a larger than life character, full of fun and playing superb rock'n'roll/rockabilly guitar.. .the notes cascading fluidly from the guitar or beating out machine gun style in turn... James is one of the great guitarists, and also a damn fine singer...

The band features the brilliant Mark Kemlo on drums... driving from behind and playing superbly along with the the (self described) Living Corpse, the legendary Norman Watt-Roy (ex-Blockheads) on bass. Norman's bass playing is outstanding throughout and along with Mark provide a rock solid and inspirational rhythm section.
The band play outstanding full tilt rock'n'roll/rockabilly dipping into the song books of the likes of Freddie King, The Pirates, Wilco and Dr Feelgood along with Jame's own songs encoring with Dawson's "American Cars"... and they have the audience totally gripped from the off.
Not only fantastic upbeat music but there is plenty of room for humour, banter between the musicians as well as with the audience throughout... three gifted musicians clearly loving playing together.. James musdt be the hardest working man in rock'n'roll yet every performance is fresh vibrant and exciting...
Exceptional performance from a really great band... superb evening of rock'n'roll
Keep music live... keep music real... support your local venues
