Gypsy Pistoleros/BlitZ

GYPSY PISTOLEROS/BLITZ
Musician Pub 12th December 2024

Last night The Musician Pub was rocking with some powerful high class rock'n'roll.
Proceedings started with BlitZ... a powerful high energy 3-piece band who rocked like crazy from the beginning to the very end...
Blitz are a great tight band featuring a drummer who drums up a storm throughout, a powerful bass player who also delivers great powerful vocals, and bounces arounds constantly and a guitar player who bangs out the superb riffs and some terrific fluent lead work...
The band play with great joy, and have a superb rapport both on stage and engage the audience instantly... they had the audience moving and singing along at every opportunity.
I don't know the song titles, but they ended with a tribute to their metal heroes, featuring passages in the style of each band and a mighty ".... our Rock'n'Roll" which had the crowd roaring along
Rock'n'roll is in safe hands while this great band are around... absolutely loved the performance.

Following may have been tricky.. but up stepped the mighty GypsyPistoleros to deliver a mighty set...
Starting in subdued, though menacing, style in black cloaks and hoods facing the back of the stage while a short churchy paragraph was played over the PA, before turning and erupting into a pulsating powerhouse theme song, "The Church of the Pistoleros" The set continued in the same exciting powerful vein throughout.
Hard to categorize this band, (i'm never a fan of attributing genres) but there is rock, punk, glam and theatre running through the whole show. The band have energy and charisma to spare and are hugely engaging, with fabulous rapport on stage and with the audience... they rock like crazy and show a great line of humour throughout... I believe they have a new drummer, who fit in perfectly with the band, a real powerhouse, and a superb bass player who never stopped hopping around and smiling, forming an absolute powerhouse of a rhythm section.
Across the stage the guitar player plays superb lead guitar, rocking and fluent throughout.
The centrepiece however is the superb vocalist (he worked with the Ramones y'know).. full of energy, great powerful singing voice and commanding stage presence... as well as a great line of patter and humour.
The band clearly have a ball playing, so much good feeling on stage and inter-action between the members and this joy communicates easily with the audience.
The band play mainly their own original material, but a couple of covers included are worthy of singling out... "Living La Vida Loca" has never sounded like this before... a very Pistoleros styling of the song, and the closing "Come on Eileen"... I doubt the Dexy's ever imagined a version like this!... and it had the audience in full voice... They then came back for an encore followed by taking selfies of themselves with the audience...
A simply rivetting and superb performance... the Pistoleros are rapidly establishing themselves as one of my favourite live bands... love 'em to bits!!!
Keep music live... keep music real... support your local venues
