CASSIDY PARIS/RATTLESNAKE
Musician Pub 1st August 2024
Sometimes you go to a gig and leave it not sure what to make of it... last night at The Musician Pub was one! Overall i cant say i enjoyed it, but there were a lot of positive points with both bands and indeed the audience.
First up were a new band, RATTLESNAKE, playing what i believe was only their fourth gig... given the performance hard to believe!
The band are incredibly strong and energetic and deliver a full tilt set of metal...The musicianship of all 5 members is high, the two lead guitars gelling really well and the singer belting the lyrics in fine style. My one criticism would be there was no light and shade, which for me made it a bit samey and ultimately a tad monotonous... however... this is a young band, only their 4th gig and all the raw materials are there for the band to develop into something really good as they gain experience... keep playing guys, would love to see the band again a bit further down the line
Headlining was CASSIDY PARIS and her band, from Melbourne Australia. They delivered a high energy all action set, the musicians play well and Cassidy has a fine voice and uses it well. However, for me rock music needs a hard edge and sense of danger which wasn't there with this band, i thought the music a bit polite and more towards pop music. The focus of the band is obviously Cassidy and she covers the stage and engages brilliantly with the audience, with ease and confidence building a real rapport, although for me there was too much pouting and posing. Although she has a fair bit of experience as a live performer, she is only 19 and in reality learning her trade and it would be interesting to see how the band develop
The great thing about the gig was to see two very young bands playing this music with love and passion and keeping it alive. They also attracted a large audience across all generations, and most of them seemed to know every word of Cassdy's songs and sang and danced with gusto throughout
Lets hope that there are many young aspiring bands around to keep the music live in this way....
