Friday night at The Musician Pub was a treat... starting the evening was the first performance by Montgomery Slacks (at least 2/4 of them!)... a new band fronted by ex The Heartland Roots Band guitarist Callum Bishop. We have long known that Callum is a superb guitar player and displayed his undoubted guitar talent to the full, along with his colleague Fabio.

This was a first ever performance, and went well, but maybe just a bit of tidying up on the vocals and showmanship would be great... the one thing that they lack is experience of playing in this format... and given time i feel this will blossom into a fine band

Headlining was the Connor Selby Band. I have seen the band numerous times over the last couple of years, and there has been no doubting Connors superb playing and the quality of the band... but they were not quite the finished article... this gig was a revelation... Connor has grown in stature and become a cultured, confident and totally assured musician and bandleader... He and the band are all high class Musicians and blend into a magnificent fluent whole... delivering a magnificent powerful set original blues material... no two ways about it... this band are the finished article... the real deal... and absolutely superb... go check them out as soon as possible...

Tonight at the The Musician Pub we were treated to a huge powerful slice of country/americana/rock'n'roll delivered by the wonderful Jason Ringenberg.. a real Nashville legend. starting with Jason and the Scorchers and moving on through a varied career and now performing solo.

This was a rivetting powerful show with many great songs, especially "I Rode with Crazy Horse" and "Freedom Riders"

The second half featured predominantly requests for obscure Jason songs... and included dip into the songbooks of Woody Guthrie and Jimmie Rogers

Jason is a huge character with bags of humour, charisma and energy, and this show was truly magnificent... one of the very best ever...

NATHAN BELL - STEVE LAWLESS

At the Musician Pub tonight for a gig that will live long in the memory... a wonderful, wonderful performance by the exceptional Nathan Bell. I had seen Nathan last year so there was no way i was going to miss this!!

Nathan is i guess a singer/songwriter... but that does not do it justice... his songs are all of the highest quality, often hard-hitting, tough but always excellent... he has a great voice and his guitar playing is superb... and he's no slouch when blowing a harp either...Not only is Nathan a great musician, but he has a wonderfully relaxed and endearing persona and is a terrific raconteur... on stage he has so much presence and charisma that he is totally riveting... absolutely magnificent set from a wonderful artist

Opening the show was STEVIE LAWLESS... a talented and hugely enjoyable singer/songwriter. The songs tend to the darker side of life, but are well crafted and always worth a listen. As always with Stevie an excellent and well received set

Back at the The Musician Pub last night with a disappointingly small audience to catch a full set by the unique Multimorph. They a mesmerizing and very theatrical band witha highly charismatic leader in Maureen Anderson. The music is hard to define... spacey, psychedelic, shades of early Pink Floyd even... the overall feel is very ethereal leaving a warm glow... excellent!

The support act were Moon Under Water... sadly not to my taste...
