Well, what a staggering afternoon this proved... Another CASBAH sunday afternoon chill-out kicked off by Thomas Dunleavy, a young man with bags of confidence and presence and a huge potential... excellent set.

Then... the extraordinary phenomenal unique Five Points Gang took the stage and were simply awesome... We grew up with power trios in the late 60's - early 70's but none had the power, energy, combined musical brilliance, joy and massive presence of this band... absolutely wonderful in every respect... front-runner already for gig of the year... i have to say it... totally blown away by them... loved every second... a phenomenal band

Imagine the Beatles

IMAGINE THE BEATLES

We all know and love the Beatles... and their whole catalogue... and this band play the material really well. It was great to see Imagine The Beatles back at the Musician Pub last night and playing to a full house.

You cant't argue with any of the pieces the band played, but i am sure we all have favourites that couldn't be included in the 2 hours... This was an energy packed superb show and had everyone singing and dancing along from the start... great show and hugely enjoyable... get your tickets early next time around!!

What a great night!!!

As an aside, i suspect this band could be a great rock'n'roll band in their own right away from the Beatles catalogue

A treat for me at The Musician Leicester with a visit from US singer-songrwriter Grant-Lee Phillips. A new name to me but absolutely loved his performance... powerful, great singing and playing, fine songs and a thoroughly engaging personality combined to deliver a really top class and thoroughly enjoyable show.

Mixed night at the Musician tonight... things got off to a terrific start with a fabulous set by Govannen... a band i hadn't seen before though had seen most of the members in one guise or another. This was a really uplifting set... predominantly jigs and reels with a host of original songs all played with energy and style and great warmth.... Loved them!!!

Headliners Rogue Embers started with a couple of technical problems but never convinced... i found them very disappointing, however saved by some excellent fiddle playing... not a band I would pay to see again sadly

Strange Doors

STRANGE DOORS the Musician Pub: January 20th 2023
Finally caught this band tonight... and so pleased I did. Back at the Musician tonight were The Strange Doors... the re-invocation of the Lizard King and the Doors... and they totally nailed it... a superb 2 hour show of Doors classics played with huge conviction and so accurate to the originals... probably the best tribute band out there... a wonderful night

Hiding Magpies

HIDING MAGPIES:

What a treat to have these guys back at The Musician Pub... the wonderful THE HIDING MAGPIES... beyond doubt one of the very best bands on the circuit.

Tonight they delivered a magnificent set, well over 2-1/4 hours, of high quality americana/rock'n'roll... the whole show delivered with huge quality, assurance, joy and energy... a really magnificent gig...

If you haven't seen these guys, treat yourself and look out for them...they are the real deal!!

Cloverhearts - The Glory - Playground Circus

First gig back at the Musician for 2023, best described as "energetic".

Two support bands, PLAYGROUND CIRCUS and The GLORY... both of which played with great spirit and energy and i think pretty well, but sadly this full on punk style is just not my cup of tea, so i cannot judge how good they were.

However, to end the evening the headliners, the awesome The CLOVERHEARTS erupted onto the stage and delivered a full on set of ultra high energy celtic ceilidh punk, the pace, and quality never flagged and the band delivered a really terrific set... this was very much my cup of tea... loved it!!
